7:30 - 2:45

Today didnapos;t involve a lot of working-with-classes time, but it was filled with lots of other things and generally was a better day than yesterday. 5H and 5Rcame in the morning to work on Mesopotamia, but I didnapos;t spend too much time helping them, as they are progressing nicely. Ispent most of the morning work on the Electoral College stuff, talking with Bob about groups, working on the handout, etc. I had an interesting surprise when, instead of the regular 7/8 meeting, we got together to film a short movie about walking in the halls, drinking at the fountain, etc. To show the middle schoolers the proper ways to go about things. The teachers who were the "naughty kids" were hilarious - tripping over each other, yelling, being nasty, and it was fun to watch. I mostly stayed behind the scenes helping Bob, but did make a few cameos as the "person passing by in the hall" who either gets tripped, pushed, or squished, or when the good kids came by, passed politely and smiled at. FunMs. B was hilarious, she said it was a role sheapos;d been waiting to play forever. After this, we spent more time on the Electoral College stuff, getting it ready to explain to the kids in 7B in the afternoon. When they came, they spent part of their period finishing the spreadsheet math stuff, and then they got their yoyo grades back. I watched them as they read their comments, and most it seemed at least gave it a thought. I did find a few discarded ones lying around when the class ended, but Bob had warned me (and Ifigured) that would happen. Especially with the kids who didnapos;t do as well. Donapos;t let that fool you, however, nobody got below a B if Ican remember. Lastly, we had 3J, who came to the lab for the first time and worked on the KidPix scavenger hunt activity. I had to intervene when one kid got very upset that he couldnapos;t find one of the tools, and Ihelped him and told him if he couldnapos;t find something, to skip it. A lot of frustration for a 9 year old And, lastly, when the laptop carts were returned, Ms. B informed me that they are starting to become unorganized and the cords are coming out of their slots, so Ithink part of tomorrow morning will be spent taking a look at those carts. I thought I was done with them And, tomorrow is day 1 for 7B to start the research part of their Electoral College projects. Cross your fingers this all goes well Especially since Bob leaves for Farm School on Wednesday...
